About me

I am a postdoctoral fellow of the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ) in Tokyo. I recently obtained my PhD with distinction from the University of Heidelberg (executed at MPIA Heidelberg), working on molecular gas in nearby galaxies of the PHANGS survey, focusing on nearby massive star-forming main-sequence galaxies. In addition to bulk molecular gas traced by CO(2-1), my focus is on high-critical density emission lines from molecules such as N2H+ and HCN.

I am motivated by the following questions:
How big is the impact of galactic environment on the amount and efficiency at which stars are formed?
How do galaxies redistribute, enhance or prevent the formation of molecular gas fueling future stars?
You can find further details on publications and projects I’m working on on this homepage.
Check out the recent news section for up-to-date highlights.

In addition, I have a passion for outreach that you can learn more about on the dedicated page (e.g., former outreach-fellow of the Outreach-team at MPIA Heidelberg).

This is me, in less than 3 minutes (2024):
